Dental Sealants

Protecting Your Smile with Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a quick and painless way to protect your teeth from cavities and decay. The application process usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of teeth being treated. Sealants are typically applied to the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars, where grooves and pits can easily trap food and bacteria. Once applied, the sealant acts as a protective shield, preventing plaque and debris from settling into these vulnerable areas.

To begin, our dentist will thoroughly clean and dry your teeth to ensure proper adhesion. A special solution is then applied to roughen the surface of the tooth, which helps the sealant bond more effectively. After rinsing and drying the tooth again, the sealant is carefully painted onto the surface. A curing light is used to harden the sealant, creating a durable layer of protection.

After Dental Filling

Once your dental filling procedure is complete, you may experience some numbness in the treated area due to the local anesthetic. This typically wears off within a few hours. It’s normal to feel slight sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure for a few days, especially if the filling was deep or near a nerve. Avoid chewing on the side of your mouth with the new filling until the numbness subsides to prevent accidentally biting your cheek or tongue.

To ensure the longevity of your filling, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily and avoiding habits like chewing hard objects or grinding your teeth. If you experience persistent pain, sharp edges, or discomfort when biting, contact your dentist, as the filling may need adjustment. Regular dental check-ups are essential to monitor the condition of your fillings and overall oral
